Several families in Khilkhet, the capital, fear for their lives at any moment in a terrorist attack in collaboration with the police. They even fear the disappearance of family heads. The victims, including Md. Shahidul Islam Bepari, Sheikh Nazrul Islam, Tajul Islam and Monirul Islam, are seeking the Prime Minister’s intervention through a press conference to protect their safety and property.

At a press conference in the auditorium of the Bangladesh Crime Reporters Association on Wednesday, Shahidul Islam Bepari said that they have been living on 7 percent of an acre of land at Khilkhet Panchu Vaidya Khatian No. 9523, Dag No. 24722 Dag for 200 years. They have 3 story houses on this lot. In addition, he has been living building more than one building. But the late mayor Anisul Haque’s MG properties first tempted them to buy the land in various ways. When they disagreed, they attempted to occupy the land by making false documents using various land grabbing tactics. There are several pending cases at the police station and the court. Recently, on the 8th of this month, two platoons from the Khilkhet police station and several terrorists were attacked to seize the land. At that time they were forced to return due to resistance from the locals. But since then, the police and terrorists have been threatening landowners in various ways. It is feared that the accused could cause a major accident at any time.

When asked about this, MG Properties (Land) director Matin denied all allegations and said they had bought the land. But Shahidul Islam has illegally occupied Gangra. There are several pending cases against him. They are trying to discredit the late former mayor Anisul Haque.

Khilkhet Police Station OC Borhan Uddin said a police force was dispatched to the scene because there was a risk of a confrontation. He also claimed that the police did not work for anyone there.
