Dhaka North and South City Corporation and the Metropolitan Police have taken new initiatives to reduce traffic congestion in the capital. The title of the new initiative is “Restructuring and grouping of bus service roads”.

Work is said to be underway to bring public transportation from 291 routes in the capital to 42 routes. Four thousand five hundred buses will circulate on these routes under 22 companies made up of two thousand five hundred bus owners. Mayor Tapas said: “The Bus Route Rationalization Committee is working to give the gift of discipline and traffic-free roads to the city’s inhabitants. The committee’s work has come a long way. Two thousand five hundred owners of four thousand five hundred vehicles that operate in the capital will be submitted to 22 companies. If this can be done, traffic congestion will be greatly reduced. Buses from neighboring cities such as Gazipur and Narayanganj will stop at designated terminals outside the capital. Buses will drop passengers there and return to those cities. This will reduce traffic congestion and reduce traffic congestion in the city.
Mayor Tapas added: “There are three bus terminals in two cities in the capital, which is not enough. As a result, most of the cars are parked on the road. We identify potential locations for the construction of 10 bus terminals in the capital. The final proposal must be submitted before December 31st. It will be decided at the next meeting next January. All the proposals of our committee will be made in coordination with the owners association and the workers’ federation.
