The police arrested 34-year-old Khalu Sohag Mia, accused of raping a teenage niece (the daughter of the wife’s older sister) in Mymensingh. He was arrested in the village of Fulbaria in the Achintpur union of Gauripur upazila on Tuesday afternoon.
According to local sources and the details of the case, the victim’s house is located in a Bokainagar union village in Gauripur upazila. Sohag Mia, son of Azizul Haque from Fulbaria village in Achintpur junction, is his brother-in-law. Two years ago, Sohag Mia took the girl home to take care of her own children. Since October 15 this year, Sohag Mia has caught the girl and raped her several times.
The girl’s mother said, “My daughter used to come home often, even if she was at her aunt’s house.” Since the girl did not come to see me recently, I contacted my sister’s husband and asked him to send her home. Later I went to the house and spoke to the girl and found out that she had been raped more than once.
The girl’s mother filed a case at the Gauripur police station on Monday night. Police raided the home and arrested the defendant Sohag Miage on Tuesday.
Gauripur Police Deputy Inspector Jamal Hossain said the defendants had been arrested. The defendant was sent to court Tuesday afternoon and the teen was sent to the hospital for a medical examination.
