Dhaka: Senior Deputy Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anisul Karim, who was on his way to seek psychiatric treatment, has been beaten to death. Only 12 patients have been discharged from the hospital.

Although they carried out their activities in the name of psychiatric treatment and drug rehabilitation, they did not receive any approval. The company operated without any permission from the Department of Health or the Department of Narcotics Control. Even none of the people involved in the hospital was a doctor.

On Tuesday (November 10), the company was seen at Adabar Hospital operating the hospital in a building in a residential area. There is no easy way to see it from the outside, it is a hospital. As you enter the door, first the pharmacy on the left side, then the reception. As soon as you go up to the second floor by the small staircase on the right, there are four beds for the treatment of patients.

A particularly small room has been created on the verandah on the second floor, where patients are brought and placed first. ASP Anisul Karim died a few minutes after being beaten by hospital staff in that room.

Twelve people were known to be in treatment at the hospital on Monday (November 9). However, 11 people left the hospital on Tuesday (November 10) morning after the incident. There was a man named Ariful Haque Chowdhury who then left the hospital around noon.

Ariful Haque Chowdhury, a Cox’s Bazar resident, has claimed that he has been admitted to the hospital for the past 20 days for medical treatment. During these 20 days, only Aristovit M vitamin capsules and gastric tablets were administered as medicine. Also, no treatment was given.

In these 20 days, he has seen 4/5 people beaten or detained in that small room. According to him, the situation is created by keeping them in a small room so that patients who come for treatment are forced to do whatever they want.

Claiming that he was taken to Mind Aid Hospital from a drug rehab center in Cox’s Bazar, he said, “I don’t know why they are doing this to me.” On behalf of my family, they took me to a drug rehab center in Cox’s Bazar. The people from this hospital came from there and brought me.

His sister Nilufar Yasmin was contacted to find out why Ariful was in a mental hospital. He first admitted that his brother Ariful was admitted. Because he didn’t agree to say anything.

Concerns have been expressed that, due to family disputes, someone may be detained in hospital in the name of medical treatment.

The hospital promised to serve as a drug and psychiatric rehabilitation center, but did not show any approval.

Harun Aur Rashid, Deputy Commissioner (DC) of the Tejgaon Division of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP), said they had no approval from the health department or the drug control department. There is no doctor on the board of directors of this organization. It is investigating how the patient was brought in or who was involved in the cycle.

The ASP Anisul Karim incident is an obvious murder. He also said that whoever is involved in this incident will all be subject to the law.

When asked if anyone else had been tortured in the hospital before, the police officer said: “No one has complained to us.” However, we are investigating the issues.

A delegation from the Department of Narcotics Control visited the hospital after ASP Anisul Karim was beaten to death.

Mehedi Hasan, deputy director of the Department of Narcotics Control, said: “We went there to check if we had any relationship with the hospital.” They are investigating how they ran the hospital.

Maqbool Hossain Pasha, a psychiatrist at Pabna Psychiatric Hospital, told banglanews that ASP Anisul Karim was beaten in the name of medical treatment. The Mental Act does not support it in any way. What Mind Aid Hospital has done is the most heinous act.
