“The election is not over yet. The end is still a long way off,” White House press secretary Kylie McNani said at a news conference Monday.
According to the BBC, at the press conference, McNani made a series of allegations of electoral fraud, but did not present any evidence of fraud that could change the current result of the vote.
Trump has yet to admit defeat, despite the fact that Biden, the rival in the Electoral College vote, will become the next president of the United States.
Biden’s electoral vote crossed the 270 mark on Saturday after multiple media outlets confirmed that the Democratic candidate would win in the important ‘swing state’ of Pennsylvania.
The former vice president of the Barack Obama administration then began preparations to take power, but on Monday Trump refused to accept the results of re-election.
Without elaborating, he said in a Twitter post that the November 3 vote was “unimaginable and illegal.”
The General Services Administration, which is in charge of various federal agencies in the United States, has also blocked the formalities of handing over power to Biden’s advisers.
Procedures are not being initiated because it is not clear who won the elections, they said.
The Biden administration is also considering a legal battle if the Trump administration obstructs the transfer of power, CBS News reported.
Several White House reporters have said that Trump is expected to leave the White House in January, despite objections to the election. He’s already started talking about running in the 2024 elections, they said.
At Monday’s press conference, McNani complained that Republican election watchers in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, did not have adequate access to the center. He also claimed that election officials in the state had given large numbers of Democrats the opportunity to correct their incorrect votes.
According to the Philadelphia Enquirer, poll watchers from the Republican and Democratic parties stood 13 to 100 feet from the counting table. This distance was necessary to prevent coronavirus infection, local election officials said.
Some areas of Pennsylvania have given voters the opportunity to correct incorrect ballots, but many areas have not had the opportunity, Enquirer said.
Rona McDaniel, chair of the Republican National Committee, said they had collected 131 affidavits from Michigan in their investigation into the allegations of election wrongdoing alone.
“If the shoe was worn on the other foot. If there had been such a small gap and President Trump had been ahead in every state, the media would have yelled, “This election is not over,” he said.
Trump’s campaign camp filed a lawsuit in federal court in Pennsylvania Monday seeking an urgent warrant to prevent state officials from certifying Biden’s victory in Pennsylvania.
On the same day, the US Department of Law also allowed prosecutors to investigate whether there were irregularities in the presidential election.
Meanwhile, many senior GOP officials have refused to pressure Trump to accept the rate.
On Monday, Democratic leader Mitch McConnell criticized Democrats for the election.
“Anyone who has questioned the legitimacy of the previous election for four years, and who has already indicated that if he loses again, he will only declare the election invalid, how can the president accept the preliminary results quickly and happily?” It’s not necessary, ”said the Kentucky senator.
“The president has every right to complain about the elections and to request a recount in accordance with the law. It should be noted that the constitution does not allow the rich media to play any role in this process,” he said.
