The general director of the postal department is on compulsory leave for corruption charges

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications has sent Sudhanshu Shekhar Bhadra, Director General of the Postal Department, on compulsory leave on charges of corruption. The order was issued in a circular signed by the ministry’s undersecretary, SM Tariq.

According to the circular, Sudhanshu Shekhar Bhadra, Director General (Current Responsibilities), Dhaka Post Office, was asked to take action in accordance with Rule 12 of the Public Officials Rules (Discipline and Appeal) 2017 on the basis of of the information obtained in the preliminary investigation of various accusations against him. In accordance with the provisions, it has been ordered to have a compulsory license from 11/11/2020 until further orders.

It is known that the government allocated Tk 540.94 crore in 2012 for the construction of 8,500 modern post offices across the country. But in most districts, the director general of the Sudhanshu department Shekhar Bhadra took the money without building the post office.

The Ministry of Posts and Telecommunications formed two committees to investigate the matter, which found evidence of corruption in everything from acquisitions to projects.
