Dhaka: Senior Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) Anisul Karim, who was on his way to Mind Aid Hospital in Adabar, was dragged into a room by six staff members. After being brought to that room on the second floor, they pushed him to the ground.
He was also hit during the skirmish. Exactly 4 minutes after the fight, the police officer was completely stunned.
The elderly ASP Anisul Karim was taken to the hospital around 11:30 am on Monday (October 9) and died in the hospital around 12 noon. Meanwhile, the body was recovered and sent to the Shaheed Suhrawardy Hospital morgue, where an autopsy on the late Anisul was completed in the afternoon.
A closed circuit (CC) camera in the hospital’s second floor room clearly showed ASP Anisul Karim being dragged and beaten and beaten in the footage. The police have recovered the images as evidence.
“Initially, we speculate that ASP Anisul Karim may have died at one stage of the fight between hospital staff,” officials involved in the investigation said. However, nothing can be said without receiving the autopsy report. In addition, 7/8 people, including hospital staff, have been detained by the police for questioning. They are being questioned about the incident.
Before entering the second floor room of Mind Aid Hospital in the capital’s Adabar, the outlook of ASP dragging on is clear. CCTV footage from the room showed 13 minutes of footage showing a hospital staff in a red vest stripping during the fight. ASP Anisul Karim was dragged from outside the room and four people carried him into the room. They threw him to the ground and held him down. Then two blue-clad staff members entered the room. They quickly grabbed Anisul’s legs. At that moment, two more people entered the room. At the time, ASP was fighting with both hands.
A staff member on the right side of Anisul’s head, holding her to the ground, struck her first on the neck. Then another baton from the left side struck him twice in a row on both sides of his neck with the elbow of his hand. The employees were binding their hands and arms behind them with long cloths. One of the six sticks, dressed in a white vest, was sitting on top of Anisul. Arif Mahmud Joy, the director of the hospital (admission) was standing inside the room at the time of the scuffle. Nine people, including hospital staff, were present inside the room. At this time his movement slows down. Four minutes later, with five hands tied behind her back, five staff members turned Anisul over and placed her on the ground. They dragged him to the bed. After a while, the manager (admission) Arif Mahmud Joy left the room.
CCTV footage also showed a staff member in a red vest splashing water into ASP Anisul Karim’s eyes and face. Asinul didn’t budge on this either. Then all the staff were inside the room. One of them, dressed in a maroon shirt, showed the beating by shaking his elbow. Of course he had a smile on his face then. Another member of staff entered the room with a bucket of water. After the green t-shirt from his hand, the other staff poured water on the floor of the room and was cleaning the house with a drying cup.
At that moment, a woman wearing a white apron came to the doctor’s room. Standing there watching. Then another doctor entered the room. The ASP checked Anisul’s blood pressure and pulse. His chest was repeatedly pumped. Then Arif Mahmud Joy entered the room. Then 11 minutes later, he ordered a staff member to close the door. Arif Mahmud Joy, two doctors, three staff members and the hospital director were in the locked room. After realizing that the patient (ASP Anisul Karim) is not alive, the instability in Arif Mahmud Joy continues to grow. He was calling with the cell phone in his pocket.
During preliminary questioning, hospital staff said that ASP was agitated in the hospital and killed Arif Mahmud Joy. Following Arif Mahmud’s instructions, the hospital staff forcibly took Anisul into the room.
The Adabar police inspector (operation) said. Farooq Mollah told banglanews that he had collected CCTV camera footage in the room where the incident occurred. It is currently under review. At the same time, 7/8 members of the hospital staff are being questioned about the incident.
The late Anisul Karim was appointed as a police officer in the 31st BCS. Most recently, he was Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) of the Traffic Department of the Metropolitan Police of Barisal. His home is in Kapasia, Gazipur. He is the father of a son. He was a student of group 33 of the Department of Biochemistry and Biopsychology at Jahangirnagar University.
