1,650 pieces of yaba have been recovered from a private clinic called ‘Health Garden’ in front of Khulna Medical College Hospital. In addition, 50 grams of cannabis and 130,000 Tk were also recovered, including cannabis and yaba consumption equipment.
They were recovered from the room (chamber) of Sumon Roy, a doctor at the clinic. Two employees named Asaduzzaman Hira and Athai were arrested there at the time.
The operation was carried out jointly by the Khulna District Administration and the Khulna Narcotics Control Department. The mobile court of the district administration sealed Sumon Roy’s room in the hospital.
Sumon Roy is Deputy General Secretary of the Khulna District Branch of Swadhinata Chikitsak Parishad (Swachip), Secretary of Publicity and Public Relations of the Khulna District Branch of the Bangladesh Medical Association (BMA) and Counselor of the Central Branch of BMA. It is said that he has part of the property of the clinic.
The executive magistrates of the Khulna district administration SM Russell Islam Noor and Debashish Basak were in charge of the mobile court. They said yaba and cannabis were recovered from Sumon Roy’s room. There they found bottles of foreign liquor, cannabis and yaba. That’s why the room has been sealed.
