In that case, there could be two spaces for electoral voting. One is the one that will actually reflect the verdict of the popular vote, the other is the verdict sent separately by the state legislatures.
Votes from electoral colleges will be counted in Congress on January 8.
Trump’s Vice President Mike Pence will chair the vote-recount meeting in Congress. If you leave one of the two places in the Electoral College vote and throw the other or do not accept either, a constitutional crisis could ensue.
