Police arrested a student named Shri Akash Das in Kotchandpur, Jhenaidah, accused of insulting the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) on social media Facebook. The arrested student is the son of Pratap Kumar Das from Balabaria Das Para de la upazila and a senior SSC student at Kotchandpur Government KMH College.
Akash Das made nasty comments about Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Islam in a Facebook ID. On Sunday morning, Akash had a discussion with the general students on the subject. At one point, Akash Kumar Das fell in front of the students. At that time, the school authorities kept him in the principal’s room for fear of any adverse incident and reported it to the police. Later, the teachers and students handed over Akash Kumar Das to the police.
Kotchandpur Government KMH College Principal Anutosh Kumar said: “When some students informed me about the matter, I brought the student to my room for fear of any adverse incident.” When asked, he confessed his misdeeds. He was later handed over to the police.
The officer in charge of the Kotchandpur (OC) Model Police Station Mahbubul Alam said that the arrested Akash Kumar Das had insulted the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) and Islam on his own Facebook ID 15 days ago. Akash’s friends ask him to delete these negative comments he wrote on Facebook. It did not.
He added that a case has been brought against Akash Kumar Das under the Digital Security Act. He has been sent to jail through court.
