The incident took place at Noli Bazar de Dhalua Union No. 6 in Barguna Sadar Upazila on Saturday morning.

Palash wrote a note before his death. He said that he was forced to commit suicide due to pressure for additional interest and constant threats, including unspeakable abuse due to his non-payment. According to sources in Palash’s family, in 2015, he first borrowed Tk 3 lakh from Zahirul Islam Sourav, a village doctor and illegal interest trader in Barguna. He then borrowed a total of 7 1/2 lakh rupees from the doctor at additional interest. In the past five years, you have paid only Rs 11 lakh as interest on the loan.

Palash’s wife, Roxana Begum, said that the interest trader Saurabh pressured her to pay the 28,000 taka fee. Saurabh was supposed to pay the money last Wednesday. But since he couldn’t pay the money, the interest trader verbally abused Palash on Thursday. At one point, pleading, Palash took time out until Saturday. After the Fajr prayers on Saturday, Sourav called Palash and abused him for money. Later, Palash committed suicide by hanging himself around 6:30 a.m. due to insult and hatred. Around 7.30am, Saurabh wanted Palash on Palash’s cell phone again. When Palash’s wife, Rokhsana, got the phone call, she told Sourav about Palash’s suicide.

Rokhsana Begum further said that her husband had left her with two young children and left the world forever due to humiliation and hatred. He wants exemplary punishment for the illegal usurper Saurabh so that such incidents do not happen in any other family as they fall into the hands of illegal usurpers. Meanwhile, after the incident, the illegal trafficker and village doctor Zahirul Islam Sourav turned off the phone. Their cameras were found closed in the Barguna pharmaceutical area. The number was found to be blocked even after several attempts to reach the mobile phone.

The police recovered Palash’s body from the scene and sent him to the Barguna General Hospital for an autopsy. Police retrieved the note from Palash’s shirt pocket.
