The BNP secretary general said that Bangladesh gained independence for the second time through the sepoy people’s coup on 7 November. The patriotic sepoys and the people liberated Ziaur Rahman on November 7 and consolidated independence in the true sense of the word. At the same time, it made a new beginning for democracy.

Mirza Fakhrul Islam said: “This day is very important in the context of present day Bangladesh.” The one-party system of government that was established before 1975, Bakshal was deprived of the rights of the people, today it again deprives the people of their rights, destroying democracy and taking power. “Today we have taken an oath for that. We will save democracy, we will release Begum Khaleda Zia, who was convicted in a false case, and we must win the fight for democracy,” he added.
Members of the standing committee, including Mirza Fakhrul Islam, Moudud Ahmed, Gayeshwar Chandra Roy, Nazrul Islam Khan, Amir Khasru Mahmud Chowdhury and Selima Rahman, paid tribute to Ziaur Rahman with flowers at 11 a.m. They prayed for the forgiveness of his soul.

Later in the afternoon, the BNP’s Dhaka Metropolitan North and South Committee, Juba Dal, Swechchhasebak Dal, Mahila Dal, Krishak Dal, Chhatra Dal, Tanti Dal, Matsyajibi Dal and other affiliates paid their respects.

The BNP will hold a virtual discussion meeting on November 8 at 3 pm today.
