Dhaka: The Dhaka Metropolitan Detective Police (DB) arrested Abul Hossain, 45, charged in the case of beating a man named Shahidun Nabi Jewel to death after spreading rumors in Lalmonirhat.
He was arrested by DB Mirpur Division in the early hours of Saturday (November 6) in the Kuril Bishbrod area of the capital.
Division Deputy Commissioner DB Mirpur (DC) Manas Kumar Poddar said that Abul Hossain was arrested in the Kuril Bishbrod area below the Bhatara Police Station in the capital. He is the number one defendant in the case presented in the Lalmonirhat incident.
Abul Hossain had been on the run since the incident. He came to Dhaka in secret. He was arrested on the basis of secret information.
He also said that the arrested Abul Hossain will be handed over to the Lalmonirhat police.
