A young man named Sheikh Obaidur Rahman Riyad Babu (28) committed suicide by posting his status on Facebook in Tala of Satkhira. He drank pesticides at home on Friday (November 6) afternoon. He died at the Tala Upazila Health Complex around 6 pm.
The deceased was identified as Sheikh Obaidur Rahman, son of Sheikh Manzur from Harishchandrakati village under the union of Khalilnagar of Riyadh Babu Tala upazila.
According to local sources, Riyadh Babu suffered from mental disorders due to family disputes. He drank pesticides at home on Friday night. The family understood the matter and rescued him and took him to the Upazila Health Complex. There he died.
Meanwhile, Riyad Babu gave an emotional state on his Facebook before drinking pesticides. There he highlighted the various disturbances in the family. He asserted himself as a BCL activist on Facebook status.
Raihan Islam, a doctor from the emergency department of the Tala Upazila Health Complex, said he was taken to the hospital around 7:30 pm. He died at night while in treatment.
Mehedi Russell, Officer-in-Charge (CO) of the Tala Police Station, was contacted more than once, but did not receive a call.
