A few days ago, India’s Foreign Secretary Harshvardhan Sringla visited Dhaka and said that India would administer the corona vaccine to Bangladesh. This time, a memorandum of understanding was signed between the Serum Institute of India and Beximco Pharmaceutical Limited of Bangladesh. This MoU has been signed in Dhaka.

As a result, Bangladesh will receive 30 million doses as soon as it hits the vaccine market in Oxford. Everyone should take two doses. As a result, 1.5 million people in Bangladesh will be able to receive the vaccine. Each dose will cost five dollars. That would cost ten dollars a head. This means that less than one thousand rupees will be enough to vaccinate each person.

Bangladesh is the first neighboring country with which India has a vaccination agreement. According to a Foreign Ministry official, this made it clear how much India values Bangladesh. India will vaccinate many of the other neighboring countries. For this, a team of experts was formed. They also visited Bangladesh in the middle of last month. They have explained how to save the vaccine.

The question is, when will this vaccine be released? Ginger Punewala, director of the Serum Institute, recently told the Mint newspaper that the vaccine would arrive in India in January. If that’s the case, Bangladesh should get it too. But this Oxford vaccine is being made jointly with the serum by the British company AstraZeneca. They said it would be a little late for the vaccine to hit the market. The British agency has agreements with more than 300 crore vaccines with different countries. Punewala had previously said that the vaccine would be available within this year. Now you are talking about January. Then this period may increase.

In Bihar’s election campaign, the BJP has promised that everyone will be vaccinated free of charge. If that decision is made, it will be effective not only in Bihar, but throughout the country. In that case, no one will have to pay for the vaccine.

Vaccines from the United States and China could also hit the market early next year. Two more vaccines from India are also being tested in the third phase. Sources from the Health Ministry said both could reach the market in a few days.
