Dawatul Quran, the first educational institution for people of the third sex (Hijra), will be launched tomorrow. It has been announced that the madrasa will open tomorrow in Dhaka. It will be the first madrasa for the hijra community in Bangladesh.

The madrasa, built in the Lohar de Char bridge area, Kamrangi, Dhaka, has been named ‘Dawatul Quran Third Sex Madrasa’.

According to a survey by the Department of Social Services, the number of hijras in Bangladesh is around 10,000. However, according to private companies, this number exceeds 50,000.

Organizers say that Hijra, Brihannala, Kinnari or the third gender, whatever they are called, are neglected, undesirable and undesirable in many ways in the Bangladeshi family and society. Therefore, this madrasa has been established with the aim of returning this community to normal life.

Previously, no separate madrasa or educational institution was established in Bangladesh for the hijra community. It is also learned that there is no system for teaching hijras in conventional educational institutions.

According to the organizers, technical education will be given in this madrasa alongside Quran education. As a result, after studying here, students will be able to enter various technical professions.

Mohammad Abdul Aziz Hussaini, secretary of education and training of the madrasa, said that after the inauguration, more than 150 hijras from different parts of Dhaka would be admitted to the madrasa.

The madrasa is located in a three-story building. It has approximately 1200 square feet of space on each floor. All students will stay and study here.

There is no age limit for studying in a madrasa, which means that people of any age from the hijra community can be admitted to this madrasa. Students do not have to incur any cost to study here. All Madrasa activities will be funded by the late Ahmad Ferdous Bari Chowdhury Foundation. Source: BBC Bangla.
