The Serum Institute has partnership agreements with Oxford and AstraZeneca and the Gates and Gavi Foundation to produce and supply more than 100 million doses of this vaccine to countries around the world.
Beximco Pharmaceuticals, the country’s leading pharmaceutical company, signed an agreement with the Seram Institute last August to import vaccines from India and supply them to Bangladesh.
Under the agreement, Beximco Pharmaceuticals is the ‘exclusive distributor’ of vaccines produced at the Seram Institute in Bangladesh. Now the Bangladeshi government has reached an agreement to buy the vaccine from India through Beximco.

However, the memorandum of understanding states that the vaccine must be approved by the World Health Organization before it can be introduced.
A memorandum of understanding was signed on Thursday at the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Three officials from the government health department, Serum Institute and Beximco signed the agreement on his behalf.
In addition to Health Minister Jahed Malek, India’s High Commissioner in Dhaka, Vikram Kumar Doraiswamy, and Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited Managing Director Nazmul Hasan were also present on the occasion.
Speaking on the occasion, the Health Minister said: “Long-standing speculation is coming to an end. Three crore doses will be administered. When ready, it will give Bangladesh the first convenient time. Beximco will take steps to bring this vaccine. Arrangements will be made to keep them in different warehouses of the Ministry of Health ”.
He said it would take two doses for each. In other words, if three crore doses of vaccine are brought in, it can be given to one and a half crore people.
“Another dose should be given 28 days after a dose. They said they will be able to give 5 million doses every month. They will arrange storage here, we will do the same. ”
MP Nazmul Hasan, Managing Director of Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited, said: “We have linked the government of Bangladesh with the Seram Institute.”
