Four development projects have been approved by the Executive Committee of the National Economic Council (ECNEC). The cost of these projects has been estimated at Tk 2,459.15 crore. Of the approved projects, two are new and two were reviewed first.
These projects were approved at the ECNEC meeting in the NEC conference room at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar in the capital on Tuesday morning.
ECNEC president, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, virtually attended the meeting. The Prime Minister participated in the ECNEC meeting via video conference from Ganobhaban and at the NEC conference room in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar.
The project will be financed by the government at a cost of Tk 1.79.31 crore, the company will obtain its own financing of Tk 162.17 crore and a loan of Tk 606.70 crore from foreign sources.
The Planning Secretary at the end of the meeting approved the details of the project. Assadul Islam. He said Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has instructed to be vigilant not to obstruct the flow of the river in order to prevent erosion. He directed that permanent measures be taken with caution in dredging.
4 projects
1. Preservation project of Singrabari, Patagram and Baukhola areas under Kazipur upazila of Sirajganj district from erosion on the right bank of the Jamuna River. The cost of this new project has been estimated at Tk 560 crore 7 lakh. The government will pay the full cost of the project under the Ministry of Water Resources.
2. Project to establish a dry processing industry in the Cox’s Bazar district. The expenditure has been estimated at Tk 198.69 million rupees. All money for the new project will come from government funds. The Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock will implement.
3. Improvement of four lanes with separate service lanes on both sides by lowering the Panchdona-Danga-Ghorashal district road one grade. It cost 551 crore 51 lakh rupees. The first amendment to the project was approved. The government will provide full funding for the project under the Ministry of Road Transport.
4. Aminbazar-Mawa-Mongla 400 KV transmission line project. The estimated cost is 1148 crore 8 lakh. This first amendment bill is run by the Department of Energy. To implement this, government funds of Tk 358.94 crore, own funds of the organization of Tk 182.14 crore and project loan of Tk 606.70 crore will be taken.
