French President Emanuel Macron and Member of Parliament for Narayanganj-3 constituency

Narayanganj-3 MP Liaquat Hossain Khoka said he would have killed French President Emmanuel Macron if he had been in charge. He said this in his speech at a rally Monday night. The MP uploaded a 13-minute video of his speech to his Facebook page.

The gathering was organized in the Aminpur field of Sonargaon Township in Narayanganj for a meeting of discussion and prayer mahfil on the life and work of the late Amir Shah Ahmad Shafi of Hefazat-e-Islam.

As can be seen from the video, Liaquat Hossain Khoka said: ‘I just want to say one thing, today those who will slander and mock my beloved prophet, I mean as a Muslim, now I am not a member of parliament … to the Prime Minister of France (President) I mean, if you were in front of me today, I would kill you. After killing, I would hang myself laughing.

When asked about the statement, Liaquat Hossain Khoka told BBC Bangla that he was still adamant about his statement. He will remain firm in his speech until his death.

The job of a member of Parliament is to make laws. When asked if he had violated the law by expressing his desire to kill someone in public, he said: “I am a Muslim, a servant of God and a follower of the Prophet. There is no commitment to the Prophet.

He said, “I said during my speech, I do not speak as a Member of Parliament, I speak as a Muslim, I speak as a follower of the Prophet.”

A local journalist present at the rally told BBC Bangla that the event was organized at the initiative of MP Liakat Hossain Khoka. Many students from different madrasas in Narayanganj joined the demonstration. On stage there were teachers from different madrassas and local leaders from Hefazat-e-Islami.

At that time, they were chanting anti-French and anti-Emmanuel Macron slogans. Furthermore, Liaquat Hossain asked Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to cut Bangladesh’s diplomatic relations with France. He said, ‘What does that have to do with what he will say against my prophet?’

Liaquat Hossain Khoka is a member of Parliament for the Jatiya Party. With this he has become a deputy on two occasions and his profession is business.
