Elections in the United States: Waking up to see the three headlines 972023 | Voice of tomorrow

The first ballot of the US elections has begun in Vermont. According to the BBC, consumption started around 5 a.m. local time (4 p.m. Bangladesh time) on Tuesday. However, around 100 million voters have already cast their votes in advance, a record in the last 100 years.

BBC North America Correspondent John Sopel discusses the election. “We can see three possible scenarios,” he writes. I wouldn’t be surprised if one of these happened-

Joe Biden’s Easy Win: The first scenario shows that the poll was correct and that Joe Biden won quite easily.

Trump’s Shocking Victory: Like 2016, opinion polls will turn out wrong and Donald Trump will be elected to a second term. The fruits of Pennsylvania and Florida will be important in his victory.

Joe Biden’s Big Win: Joe Biden won’t just win, he’ll win by a big margin; this is also a possibility. Ronald Reagan’s landslide victory over Jimmy Carter in 1970 looks a lot like that. Or George Bush’s victory over Michael Dukakis in 1986.

But another unexpected result could be this: Since the Nebraska Electoral College vote is divided, a situation could arise in which both candidates receive the same number of electoral votes. The magic number of electoral college votes to win elections in the United States is 270. With this many votes in the electoral college, a presidential candidate can safely claim victory. But with Nebraska’s vote split, both Trump and Joe Biden could get 269 electoral votes, a possibility.

“It just came to our notice then. I’d say it’s highly unlikely. But what is absolutely impossible? Remember, it’s 2020.
