Four convicts, Syed Farooq Rahman, Sultan Shahriar Rashid Khan, Bazlul Huda and AKM Mohiuddin Ahmed (Lancer), who were sentenced to life imprisonment, appealed to the High Court against the verdict. The High Court handed down a judgment on August 26, 2006. Among the three sentenced to death in the verdict, the death sentence of Risaldar Mosleh Uddin is confirmed. Through Ali Shah and Dafadar, Abul Hashem Mridha were acquitted. Apart from this, the four defendants appealed were acquitted of life imprisonment. The other eight convicts are sentenced to life imprisonment.
The state appealed against the Superior Court verdict. Ali Shah and Dafadar Mohammad through the Appeals Division. Abul Hashem acquitted Mridha and confirmed the death sentence passed by the High Court. The full verdict of the Appeals Division was published on December 1, 2015.
