Thousands of expatriates besieged the Ministry of Foreign Affairs demanding an extension of their visas and their return to Malaysia. They withdrew their program after assurances from Foreign Secretary Masoud bin Momen.

Expats said they returned to the country on vacation before the Corona epidemic. However, the flight was canceled and he was unable to return. Many of their visas have expired and most expat visas will expire in December.
Nurnabi is one of the occupants. His visa expired last month. “I went back to the country on February 29,” he told The Daily Star. I haven’t been able to go yet. For eight months I have no job, I have no income. If you stay like this for a while, you will have to die without eating with your family. I want to go back to my place of work. ‘
Some other expats present made similar comments.
The director general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Southeast Asia), MJH Jabed, spoke today at 11 am to a delegation of five expatriates. Due to the Corona situation, the Malaysian government will not allow any Bangladeshi to enter until December 31. He said that expats should wait until December 31 according to the decision of the government of that country.
He assured the government of all possible cooperation to repatriate expatriates if the Malaysian government lifted the ban on the coronavirus epidemic.
“If the situation in Corona improves, we will contact the Malaysian government and arrange for workers from Bangladesh to go there,” he told The Daily Star.
He added: “Once the ban is lifted due to the Corona situation, these workers will be able to reapply for visas through their respective institutions.” That is why the government will take all the necessary measures.
At around 1:30 p.m., Foreign Secretary Masood bin Momen spoke to them and assured them of all necessary cooperation.
He assured the Malaysian government that he will cooperate to extend their visas and reissue them to those whose visas have expired.
At the same time, he said that he will work on the issue of financial assistance to those who are in financial difficulties due to their long stay in the country.
Under his guarantee, the expatriates withdrew their program.
