In 2021, there will be a total of 22 days of leave in Bangladesh, including 14 days of general leave and eight days of public leave in the executive order. Of these, the seven-day holiday falls on Friday and Saturday is a weekly holiday.

In the current 2020, of the 22 holidays, eight holidays fall on Fridays and Saturdays are weekly holidays.

In 2019, the 22-day government holiday fell into a three-day weekly holiday. And in 2017 there were seven days off on 22 days, in 2016 there were 10 days off, and in 2016 there were four days off on weekly holidays.

General holiday

Leave by executive order

March 29 is Shabe Barat, April 14 is Bengali New Year, May 10 is Shabe Qadr, May 13 and 15 is the day before and after Eid-ul-Fitr, May 22 and 22 July is the day before and after Eid-ul-Azha and August 19 is Ashura.

Optional license

Muslim episode: Shabe Meraj on March 12, Eid-ul-Fitr (second day after Eid) on May 16, Eid-ul-Azha (second day after Eid) on July 23, Somba de Akheri Chahar on October 8 and Fateha-i-Yazdaham on November 16.

Hindu episode: Saraswati Puja on February 16, Shivaratri Vow on March 11, Dolayatra on March 26, Advent of Harichand Tagore on April 9, Mahalaya on October 8, Durga Puja (Ninth) on October 14, Lakshmi Puja on 20 October and Shyama Puja on November 4.

Christian episode: January 1 is the English New Year, February 18 is Ash Wednesday, April 1 is Holy Thursday, April 2 is Good Friday, April 3 is Holy Saturday, April 4 is April is Easter Sunday and December 24 and 26 is the birthday of Jesus Christ (before and after Christmas).

Buddhist episode: January 28 Maghi full moon, April 13 Chaitrasankranti, July 23 Asadhi full moon, September 20 Madhu full moon (Bhadra full moon) and October 20 Pravarana full moon (Ashwini full moon) .

Optional leave for employees belonging to small ethnic groups working within and outside the CHT area: April 12 and 15 are similar social festivals of Vaisabi and other small ethnic groups in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.

An official from the Ministry of Public Administration said that an employee could be allowed up to three days of optional leave per year according to his own religion.

However, all employees must obtain the approval of the competent authority to enjoy three days of optional leave prescribed by their religion at the beginning of the year.

The optional license can be enjoyed in conjunction with the general license, the public license and the weekly license by executive order.

Office hours and holidays are governed by their own rules and regulations. In the case of offices, agencies and institutions whose work has been declared essential by the government, the interested offices, agencies and institutions shall exercise this license in the public interest in accordance with their own laws and regulations.
