At the meeting, it was decided that service would resume with a quarter of the total number of local trains running in the state. It will be gradually increased with the launch of the 10-15% local train service. 25% of local trains can run after Kalipujo. The final decision on when the local train will start will be made on November 5. The two parties will also meet that day. However, it was initially decided that e-passes would not be provided as Metro.

Right now, a train has a total of 1200 seats. But for now 600 passengers will be carried. No one will be allowed to stand. The rail authorities will discuss how to transport these passengers and will meet again with the state government on the afternoon of November 5. According to administration sources, the state wants the local train to run only during office hours. In that case, a final decision on how many trains will run on which routes in the morning and in the afternoon has not yet been made.

However, prior to the meeting, Eastern Railway officials had requested state police officials to be present at today’s meeting. Due to the number of daily commuters in West Bengal, far fewer passengers will have the opportunity to travel by train in the early stages of the introduction of trains. In that case, problems may arise. So the railways are also thinking of controlling the situation with the police.

Meanwhile, on the day of the state-rail meeting, blockades were imposed in various places demanding the introduction of local trains. Passenger protests took place at various stations in Hughli demanding the operation of the train. Travelers began to protest blocking the special train. Dhundhumar Dam in Rishra, Vaidyabati, Sheoraphuli Station. GT Road was blocked for a long time. Passenger protests also started at Howrah station at night. Previously, there were protests in Pandua and Chunchura for the same reason.

Previously, the railway authorities had sent two letters to the state government shortly before Pujo to start local train services. Nabanna, however, did not reply then. The BJP management also wrote a letter to the railway authorities requesting the circulation of local trains. But Durgapujo was a great challenge for Navanna. Experts also said corona infections could increase in the state after Pujo. As it happened after the Onam festival in Kerala. But the situation is not yet conducive to the spread of the lethal rate in Pujo. On the other hand, there are protests in various directions demanding local trains. So for now, the state government is keeping a close eye on the local train.
