The war did not stop for six weeks. Armenia and Azerbaijan have not yet reached a solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
On Sunday, the President of Azerbaijan said that if Armenia did not lay down its arms, the Azerbaijani army would continue to fight until the end. On Sunday he made it clear that the war could only end if Armenia withdrew from Nagarno-Karabakh.
Russia says Russia will be forced to intervene militarily if the Nagarno-Karabakh war enters the border with Armenia.
The foreign ministers of Armenia and Azerbaijan have met three times so far. There have been two peace talks mediated by Moscow. A temporary ceasefire agreement has been signed. But the war did not stop. After that, the two countries once again accepted Washington’s brokered ceasefire offer. But that did not work. The war between Armenia and Azerbaijan for Nagarno-Karabakh continues. The death toll increases every day. One city after another is being destroyed. Ordinary people are fleeing their homes.
On Sunday, Moscow held a private meeting with Azerbaijan to end the war. Azeri President Ilham Aliyev met with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevl মন্ত্রী t Cavusoglu. There, the president made it clear that Azerbaijan was not willing to accept any solution. Only if Nagarno-Karabakh leaves Armenia will they accept the peace offer. Otherwise, the war will continue. Azerbaijan will leave after seeing the end of the matter, he threatened.
Turkey supports Azerbaijan in this war. At first, Armenia accused the Turkish army of attacking Nagarno-Karabakh. On the other hand, Armenia has been seeking help from Russia from the beginning. The old Soviet country is in a military pact with Russia. Russia is forced to help if Armenia is attacked.
Russia, however, said last week that it did not support either side in the war. They are trying to figure out how to stop the conflict.
However, the Armenian news agency claimed on Saturday that Russia’s position had tightened, albeit slightly. On Saturday, they said that Russia would provide military assistance to Armenia if the war spread from Nagorno-Karabakh to the Armenian border.
A few days ago, Iran had exactly the same fear. At any moment, they said, the war between Armenia and Azerbaijan could spread throughout the region. Turkey, Iran, everyone can participate. That is why Iran requested a quick solution. But Armenia and Azerbaijan do not want to go down that path. Armenia does not want to give up its rights in Nagarno-Karabakh. Azerbaijan refuses to give up Nagarno-Karabakh.
