Dhaka: The High Court has ordered the authorities at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka Children’s Hospital and Mugdar Islamia Hospital to provide explanations within 48 hours.
After the death on Monday (November 2) morning, the father of the twins brought the body to the courthouse by the MLSS Md. Abul Kalam Azad of the Supreme Court.
The high court of Judge Mohammad Nazrul Islam Talukder and Judge Ahmed Sohail approved the order.
Rule wanted to know why the inactivity of the medical malpractice defendants would not be illegal.
AKM Deputy Attorney General Amin Uddin Manik said Saira Khatun, wife of MLSS Supreme Court Md Abul Kalam Azad, gave birth to two babies in a GNC autorickshaw on her way to Mugda Hospital when she fell ill Monday morning.
At that time, the mother was admitted to Islamia Hospital. Islamia Hospital does not have adequate arrangements in this regard. They were asked to take the newborns to the Dhaka Children’s Hospital in Shyamoli. Later, the two newborns were taken by ambulance to the children’s hospital. They say your ICU is not empty. Must be admitted in normal bed. It will cost 5 lakhs per child per day. Abul Kalam Azad discussed the matter with a High Court judge. The judge asked him to bring his newborns to Bangabandhu Medical and contact the director. He later took him to Bangabandhu Medical College and tried to contact the headmaster. But the director’s personal officer said the director is at the meeting. Later, the director went home. The director’s personal officer then shows the newborns in the ambulance to a doctor. Then the doctor said that the newborn twin is no longer alive.
Later, Abul Kalam Azad took their bodies by ambulance to the courthouse. Then the court issued the order, Amin Uddin Manik said.
