As part of this, Nur Hossain Qasemi, Dhaka’s metropolitan president of Hifazat-e-Islam, announced the siege of the French embassy on November 2 at a demonstration under the slogan ‘Combined Islamic parties’ in front of the Baitul Mukarram national mosque after Friday.
According to him, thousands of activists from various organizations, including Hefazat-e-Islam, have been gathering at the northern gate of Baitul Mukarram since Monday morning.
Zahidul Islam Sohag, the Deputy Commissioner for the Motijheel area of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police, said traffic stopped on both sides of the Baitul Mukarram, Gulistan and Nightingale junction as they took up positions throughout the area.
