Fertilizer was smuggled from the Bogra buffer depot to Sirajganj. At that time, the tax force seized two trucks with 40 metric tons of fertilizer. The fertilizers were recovered based on information from the National Security Intelligence Agency (NSI).
Two trucks with fertilizer were seized from the Sherpur Upazila bus stop area on the Dhaka-Bogra highway around 10 pm on Sunday.
It was learned that 40 metric tons of fertilizer was removed from the buffer zone in the Tinmatha Railgate area of the city of Bogra in two trucks to be shipped to Chapainawabganj on Sunday evening. But the two trucks were going to Sirajganj on the Bogra-Dhaka highway instead of going to Chapainawabganj.
According to information from NSI, Sherpur Upazila Nirbahi officer Liaquat Ali Sheikh led the RAB, a task force made up of police officers who instructed to stop the two trucks at the Sherpur bus stop area. At that moment the driver left the truck and fled. Subsequently 40 metric tons of fertilizer were recovered along with the truck.
Liaquat Ali Sheikh, an official from Bogra Sherpur Upazila Nirbahi (UN), confirmed the information, saying that according to the shipment, there are 40 metric tons of fertilizer. Chapainawabganj’s delivery order (DO) was found in the shipment.
