A court has sentenced a witness to life imprisonment in a gang rape case in Patharghata upazila of Barguna. At the same time, he was sentenced to one more year in prison for failing to pay a fine of Taka 50,000. The defendants in this case have been acquitted. Sunday (November 1) Judge of the Court of Women and Children. Hafizur Rahman announced the verdict.
The convicted defendant is: Former member of Kakchira Union Md. Sekandar Jomaddar from Bainchatki village of Patharghata upazila in Barguna district. Emadul Haque. He has been in jail for eight months.
The defendants acquitted are Mohsin, son of Khabir Ghazi from the same village, and Moazzem, son of Ahed Khan. The convicted and acquitted defendants were present in court when the verdict was announced.
According to the case, on February 19, 2015, a housewife filed a complaint with the Barguna Women and Children Abuse Court for the rape of her daughter. The convict Emadul Haque was witness number four in the case.
It is alleged in the case that the defendant, who was a tenth grade student, went out to respond to nature at 11 p.m. on February 16, 2015 after finishing her studies, the defendant acquitted took turns raping her daughter .
The plaintiff then woke up and went to his daughter’s room without looking at her and went to get her shoes and veil. After searching, he rescued his daughter from the house’s betel garden in a bloody state.
According to judicial sources, Emadul Haque, witness number four in the case, raped the housewife’s daughter. He then blamed his opponents Mohsin and Moazzem for the rape due to previous hostilities. And he took the help of the housewife to catch the two innocent accused.
The plaintiff later complained to the court that Emadul, a witness in the case, had raped his daughter. After that, the rape accusations were directed at his opponents Mohsin and Moazzem. He was defenseless and accused Mohsin and Moazzem of rape. Emadul, a witness in the case, was also jailed for eight months after the incident came to light. The court subsequently reviewed the testimony of the plaintiffs and witnesses and sentenced Emadul Haque to life in prison.
In this regard, said the lawyer for the accused Asaduzzaman, we will appeal this verdict in the superior court. So far we have not received a copy of the verdict.
In this regard, the Mostafizur Rahman state special PP said, this is an egregious incident. Emadul Haque was a member of the UP and a Lawyer Lawyer at the time. Due to a conflict with a neighbor, a schoolgirl raped a minor and forced the plaintiff to present a false case against the others. Emadul Haque’s exemplary punishment was desirable in this heinous incident.
