The convicted “witness” is Emadul Haque, a former UP member from Bainchatki village in Patharghata upazila of Barguna district.

Those acquitted are Mohsin, son of Khabir Ghazi from the same village, and Moazzem, son of Ahed Khan. All of the convicted and acquitted defendants were present in court when the verdict was announced.

According to the sources in the case, on February 19, 2015, a housewife from the same village filed a complaint of gang rape against the defendant acquitted at the Barguna Court for the Repression of Abuse of Women and Children. Emadul Haque, convicted in that case, was witness number four.

The first accusation was that the acquitted defendant gang-raped his tenth-class daughter on the night of February 16, 2015. But the investigating officer said. Rafiqul Islam filed a charge sheet against the convicted defendant Emadul Haque on July 8, 2015.

Later, the plaintiff in the case learned that the acquitted defendant had a dispute with the convicted person. For this reason, the convicted Emadul Haque raped the plaintiff’s daughter and helped to bring a false case against the acquitted defendant. The convicted defendant was made a witness in the case at that time.
