Lalmonirhat Patgram accused of insulting religion. Al Mahmoud Fouzul Qabin, head of the investigation committee of the National Human Rights Commission and director of the commission (complaints and investigations), said that Jewel had not insulted the Holy Quran. His body was cremated after rumors spread that he had been beaten to death.
He said: “Speaking with the imam and servant of the mosque, we are sure that the murdered Jewel did not insult the Quran. Rumors spread against him of insulting the Koran.
He said this at a news conference about the testimony of the commission’s investigation team and the testimony of several people, including eyewitnesses, on Sunday morning.
He said the commission was investigating the entire incident in three parts. Witnesses have made different statements, so it is being investigated whether the incident was planned or not.
‘In this case, we are working on a series of questions. Once the questions are answered, the whole incident will be clear to us, ” he said.
The head of the investigation committee said that the presence of outsiders in the place and where they came from is being investigated with special importance.
“We are investigating. We will present the investigation report to the commission within the next seven days,” he said.
Additional Deputy Commissioner Rahsin Kabir and Senior Deputy Superintendent of Police, Tapash Sarkar, are part of the investigation team of the National Human Rights Commission.
Jewel was beaten to death and her body burned at the Burimari Bazaar in Patgram on Thursday night on charges of insulting religion. The deceased was identified as Jewel, son of Abdul Wazed Miah from the Shalban Mistripara area of Rangpur. He is a former librarian at Rangpur Cantt Public School and College and a former student at Dhaka University. Three cases have been filed on behalf of the victim’s family, the police and the union council. The police are carrying out an operation to arrest those involved in the incident.
