Isaac Ali further testified that after arresting Jamal, the police recovered 100 grams of heroin and filed a case. The remaining 400 grams of heroin were seized by the police. The police did not pay him Rs 2 lakh later. The police filed an unnatural death case at the police station alleging that Rafiqul was killed by lightning. Police filed a case on Jamal’s behalf under the Narcotics Control Act.
Later, on June 16, Rafiqul’s wife, Rumisa Khatun, filed a murder case at the Godagari Police Station. The defendants in the case are Shariful Islam, 32, the son of Abdul Malek from Chapainawabganj Sadar Upazila, and Jamal Uddin, 32, the son of Azad Ali from the same area. Shariful is still on the run.
After the police, SI Jamal Uddin from PBI’s Rajshahi office took on the responsibility of investigating the case. He said that three people, including Isaac Ali, were arrested Thursday night. The other two are Faridul Islam, 25, son of Azizul Islam from Madarpur mahalla of Godagari and Mahabur Ali, 31, son of Azad Ali. All three were arrested in the murder case on Friday morning and taken to court. After taking Isaac Ali’s statement in court, the three were sent to Rajshahi Central Jail.
SI Jamal Uddin said that the names of five policemen were mentioned in Ishaq Ali’s statement. Necessary steps will be taken in this regard after receipt of the court documents.
