Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has commented this time on freedom of expression. On Friday, he said: “Everyone has the right to freedom of opinion and expression, but this is not the case.” By no means do I want to convey that I recommend that the mother be inactive. Times of India

Trudeau said certain communities should not be indiscriminately and unnecessarily hurt. When asked about the recent showing of satirical cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) in France, he said: “We must protect freedom of expression.” However, he stressed that there must be limits when expressing one’s opinions and that they must not be violated. We need to show respect to others. Those with whom we share everything in society and in the world should not be indiscriminately and unnecessarily hurt. Pointing to French President Emmanuel Macron, he said: “Each of us must be careful when speaking so as not to disrespect other religions.”

Referring to many opinions, different ideologies and respectful societies, Trudeau said that we are responsible for the impact of what we say, how we treat others, especially those communities and people who have experienced horrible discrimination. Condemning the recent terrorist attacks in France, he said: “It is unreasonable and Canada supports our French friends who are going through a very difficult time and strongly condemns this act.”
