Ali Hasan Askari has cheated millions of rupees by misleading people in various ways. It’s hard to understand the way this sweet-voiced person speaks or acts, he’s a large-scale deceiver. Investigators and victims have also said he used the stunt to defraud Shahed Karim, president of Regent Hospital, who was arrested for fraudulently testing a coronavirus sample.
Members of the DMP’s Combating Terrorism and Transnational Crime (CTTC) unit picked up Askari in a car this afternoon to take him to court. At that time, Mizanur Rahman Pramanik, who had cheated Askari out of six and a half lakh rupees, addressed him and said: ‘Brother Askari, what will happen to my money?
Recognizing Mizanur, Askari said, ‘How are you? Are you coming from Gaibandha? Do not worry. I’ll come to see you from the hospital. Mizanur still did not know where the police were taking Askari.
Later, Mizanur Rahman told Pramanik NTV Online, ‘Askari came to my house. On December 29, 2016 I organized a meeting. He went to that meeting. He went to the full assembly and announced that he wanted to do something for the Nawab dynasty. He wants to make the Madrasa Panchgachhi Hafizia in Gaibandha bigger. He also announced the purchase of 100 bighas of land. He needs a bit of approval to build this madrasa, so he took six and a half lakhs of rupees from me in stages. Later, when I asked him about the work progress, he blocked me on Facebook.
On Saturday, a Dhaka court sentenced Ali Hasan Askari to jail after a three-day pre-trial detention. The photo was taken at noon from the DB office on Mintu Road in the capital before being sent to jail. Photo: NTV
