Deen Islam, the mastermind of the incident, testified in court under section 164 on Saturday afternoon. On the other hand, the police have requested a 10-day pre-trial detention to question the other three accused detained in the same court. The request for preventive detention will be heard in court on Sunday.
Police said that during questioning Deen Islam confessed to the murder and described the entire incident in the same way, they believe he said the same in front of the judge.
Asad’s eldest son, Tofazzal, filed a murder case against nine people, including Mulhota Deen Islam, at the Katiadi police station on Friday night. However, on Thursday night, the police arrested the deceased’s younger brother, Deen Islam, his mother Jumela, his sister Nazma and his nephew Al-Amin. They were shown arrested after the case.
The Kishoreganj police superintendent said. Mashruqur Rahman Khaled told reporters at the district police office that Deen Islam first killed her fiancé and then her nephew on Wednesday night over family and land disputes. Later, his brother Asad also killed his older brother with a shovel that had just arrived from the market.
He said that although Deen Islam was killed alone, others are believed to have been involved in other crimes, including burying the body. By questioning all three defendants, it will be possible to identify and arrest others involved in the incident.
The police superintendent said the cell phones of the murdered Assad and his wife Parveen were found in the hole. The police have recovered them. The shovel used in the murder was also recovered. Deen Islam carried out this brutal murder mainly due to family and land disputes.
