Awami League Secretary General and Minister of Road Transport and Bridges, Obaidul Quader, said: BNP is not our enemy. We oppose your negative policy. They have isolated themselves from the people of the country as they have looted everywhere in the name of Hawa Bhaban. BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir is a gentleman. He is a puppet dancer of the dark.
He spoke as the keynote guest at a virtual discussion meeting chaired by Mayor Akhter Hossain Faisal at the opening ceremony of the Chaumuhani Municipal Park and Municipal Bus Terminal at a cost of Tk 23 crore at 11:30 am on Saturday.
He added that even after being elected, the BNP general secretary was unable to go to parliament. Let’s talk about the language of democracy without being reckless. We are not saying that Awami League will be in power forever. But we have confidence in people.
The bridge minister said that the identity of the party cannot be the identity or protection of any criminal. Drugs, terrorism, the culture of youth gangs are clouding our entire development. The police and administration must strictly enforce the law in this regard.
Obaidul Quader joined the function via video conference from his official residence and announced the inauguration of two projects at a discussion meeting organized by the municipality of Chaumuhani.
At that time, he added, the current government is in a difficult position against terrorists and abusive women. When the government of Sheikh Hasina talks about the poor and the progress of the country’s development, you get angry. The current government is transforming every village into a city by bringing cities and towns closer together through local government. Mayors must be responsible for development.
He said that he would tell all the municipal mayors of the country to bring development between transparency and accountability to the doors of the people. Sheikh Hasina’s government wants to see the municipal mayors as servants of the people, not as rulers.
Noakhali Deputy Commissioner Khorshed Alam Khan, Police Superintendent, as a special guest on the virtual platform. Alamgir Hossain was present.
At the same time, Syed Hasinur Rahman, Managing Director of the Bangladesh Municipal Development Fund (BMDF) participated in a virtual discussion meeting from Dhaka.
It is worth mentioning that the World Bank provided 90 percent of the funds for the implementation of the Chaumuhani Municipal Park and Municipal Bus Terminal project at a cost of Taka 23 crore and the remaining 10 percent was provided by the Chaumuhani Municipality .
