Freedom Fighter Killed in Arbitration in Tangail Village

It has been alleged that a freedom fighter was killed in an attack on a referee from a village in Basail, Tangail. The incident took place in the village of Motra in the Upazila Union Speaks on Friday night. The name of the freedom fighter was Abdul Latif Khan (60). He is a resident of that town.

According to the police and the victim’s family, Abu Khan, a neighbor, had been arguing with the freedom fighter Abdul Latif Khan for two days over two ponds. An arbitration meeting was held in the backyard of Shahjahan Khan’s home on Friday night. At one stage of the arbitration, people from Abu Khan’s side attacked Latif Khan over a dispute. Later, the locals rescued Latif and took him to Tangail General Hospital. The doctor on duty declared him dead.

Latif Khan’s body is in the Tangail General Hospital morgue. The hospital autopsy is underway, the hospital medical officer said. Shafiqul Islam reported.

Basail Police Station Officer-in-Charge (CO) Harunur Rashid said a case would be started in the incident. An attempt is being made to arrest those involved in the incident.
