Izmir Mayor Tunis Sayar told CNN (Turkey) that 20 buildings collapsed from the earthquake. Rescue work is underway on 16 collapsed buildings.
The earthquake killed at least 24 people and injured 600 others, according to the Turkish Disaster Relief Agency. Two teenagers were killed in a wall collision on their way home from school on the Greek island of Samos. The death toll from the earthquake is expected to rise further.

The area governor said 60 people were rescued alive from under the rubble Friday night. However, it was not known exactly how many people were missing.
