The installation of span 35 of the Padma Bridge has been postponed due to the navigability crisis on the river. Today, Friday (October 30), the Padma Bridge span was to be placed at Poles 6 and 9 on the Mawa side. As a result, stretch 35 ‘To-B’ will be installed on Saturday (October 31).

Engineers said the depth of the water is much less where the span will be installed. As a result, the floating crane with span will not be able to get there. Currently, work is underway to increase navigability through dredging. However, it did not specify when section 35 will be installed.

According to the sources concerned, the 3,600-ton capacity ‘Tian-e’ floating crane will transport the 150-meter-long span from Mawa Construction Yard in Munshiganj at 9am on Saturday. Anchoring work here must be done very carefully. Therefore, it is important to have a favorable climate in Padmanadi.

This month of October 3 sections have been installed. A total of 34 spans have been installed. And the work of installing the remaining 6 openings. All installation work on the stretch is expected to be completed in December this year.
