Russia criticizes Islamophobic cartoons

Russia has strongly condemned the publication of cartoons insulting Islam in European countries, including France. Ryanovosti, a Moscow news agency, said insulting any religious belief and hurting the feelings of devout people was not acceptable in Russia’s eyes.

Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters in Moscow on Thursday that violence in France had increased due to insults to the Prophet of Islam (PBUH). Therefore, in the first place, such abusive activities must be stopped.

Recently, a French teacher named Samuel Patti was killed in an attack after showing a cartoon of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) in front of his classmates. French President Emmanuel Macron blames his country’s Muslims for the killings and claims that Muslims want to destroy France.

In a more disgusting statement, Macron announced that the cartoons of the Prophet of Islam (PBUH) would continue to be published in France. There has been a storm of protests against his statement around the world, including Bangladesh, India and Iran.

Despite strong protests in the Muslim world, the French president has publicly declared that the printing of such cartoons will never stop in France. He also said that Islam is in crisis all over the world. Thousands of people protested outside the French embassy in the Russian capital Moscow on Thursday.
