Authorities deleted a tweet by former Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Mohamad, accusing him of violating policy by praising the violence in the wake of a terrorist attack on a church in the French city of Nice. He tweeted after at least three people were killed in a terrorist attack on a church in the city of Nice on Thursday.

Mahathir Mohamad’s tweets about the Nice attack generated a wide response on social media. Many Twitter users also demanded that the Prime Minister of Malaysia be removed from social media.

Cedric and Mahathir, France’s digital industry ministers, condemned the tweet. “I spoke with the managing director of Twitter in France,” said Cedric O. I asked him to immediately delete the Twitter account of the former prime minister of Malaysia.

He said that if it wasn’t done, Twitter would have to take responsibility as an accessory to an official call for the killings.

Mahathir Mohamad tweeted at least 13 times about the controversial cartoon exhibition in France about the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). These tweets harshly criticized France’s anti-Islamic and anti-Muslim stance.

In a tweet, Mahathir Mohamad blamed French President Emmanuel Macron for blaming Islam and Muslims for the murder of school teacher Samuel Patti. At the same time, Mahathir pointed out that Muslims have the right to punish the French if the entire Muslim nation and Islam are blamed for a fit of anger.

Twitter authorities first affixed the tag saying Mahathir’s tweet violated policy. However, Twitter later deleted the Malaysian prime minister’s tweet.

Samuel Patty, a high school teacher on the outskirts of Paris, France, showed cartoons of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) while discussing free speech with school children. Samuel, a 16-year-old Chechen teenager, was beheaded on October 16 after the incident.

Following Samuel’s assassination, French President Emmanuel Macron announced the continuation of his anti-Islamic activities and cartoon displays of the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). This has strained France’s relations with several countries in the Muslim world. A young man who had emigrated to France from Tunisia attacked a church in the city of Nice on Thursday, shortly after the incident.
