The Prime Minister said: “The Bangladesh Police is one of the main institutions dedicated to the country’s internal security, the establishment of the rule of law and the protection of human rights. The Bangladesh Police consistently fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to it in the service of the country and the nation with sincerity and courage.
Mutual trust, understanding and respect between people and police is the essence of community policing, he said. Various activities are taking place to create a sense of security among the people.
The Prime Minister said that in the five years since the beginning of community policing activities across the country, 11,17,060 community policing members have worked in partnership with the police through 60,917 committees to achieve significant success in the control of crime and the solution of various social problems.
Sheikh Hasina said: “Meanwhile, the Bangladeshi police have taken another step in the fight against crime by forming community policing committees in the Bangladesh Road, Industrial and Railway Police. I strongly believe that community policing will continue to play an important role in reducing violence against women, militancy and terrorism, as well as raising public awareness of cybercrime.
The Prime Minister said that in this era of globalization, readily available technology is rapidly spreading crime internationally and regionally. In this case, there is no alternative for the police to work together with the help of all, establishing close links with the people and other state agencies in addition to acquiring advanced technology in crime prevention and detection of crimes dependent on international technology, regional and local.
He said his government has taken all necessary steps, including building a counter-terrorism unit and a cyber unit to make the Bangladesh Police a modern technology-based institution capable of tackling contemporary challenges such as cybercrime, militancy and fighting. against terrorism, money laundering, etc.
He further said that the Awami League government has continued to carry out and implement various activities to strengthen the human resource management of the police with a view to building a safe and peaceful country, increasing overall capacity, including manpower and labor. budget.
The Prime Minister said that the Bangladesh Police has a glorious history in the great liberation war of 1971. Inspired by the spirit of that liberation war, all members of the police will work more sincerely in the coming days to build a country. harmonious humanitarian, exploitation free, militant, drug free and communalism and give a prosperous Bangladesh to the new generation.
