The union election of Dashghar from Bishwanath upazila de Sylhet has been held after 18 years. And in this election, the boat of Awami League nominated boat candidate Jabedur Rahman made landfall. BNP-nominated rice sheaf candidate Emad Uddin Khan defeated Jabedur Rahman by just 375 votes.
Many blame the defeat of the Awami League candidate on internal disputes by leaders and workers. Many leaders and activists are also reacting angrily on social media Facebook.
Elections were held peacefully in the union on Thursday with the spontaneous participation of voters. Five presidential candidates, including rebels from the Awami League and BNP, contested the elections.
In that election, BNP-nominated rice sheaf candidate Emad Uddin Khan defeated his closest rival, Awami League nominated ship symbol candidate Jabedur Rahman. The winning candidate, Emad Uddin Khan, obtained 316 votes. And his closest Jabedur Rahman got 261 votes.
After counting the votes on Thursday night, Upazila’s election official and returning official, Golam Sarwar, unofficially declared Emad Uddin Khan as president.
