Five men sentenced to death in the much discussed Rifat Sharif murder case in Barguna have been transferred from Barguna District Prison to Barisal Divisional Prison. They were sent to Barisal under strict security around 10am on Friday.

Early Thursday morning, Ayesha Siddique Minni, the only woman charged in the same case and the wife of the murdered Rifat, was sent to Kashimpur central prison under strict security measures.

In this regard, said the caretaker of the Barguna District Jail (Super Jail). Anwar Hossain said there was no adequate arrangement to keep the convicts in the Barguna district jail. For this reason, in accordance with the decision of the higher authorities, those sentenced to death in the Rifat murder case have been sent to Barisal Prison from Barguna District Prison.

Crowds of family members were seen as the defendants were released from Barguna prison. At this moment a heartbreaking scene took place. The defendants were collected from the jail door in a prison van under strict security measures.

The Barguna District and Sessions Court of Justice rendered the verdict of 10 accused adults in the Rifat Sharif murder case discussed on September 30. The court ordered the execution of six defendants, including Rifat’s wife, Ayesha Siddique Minni. In addition, four other defendants in the case were acquitted. Since the verdict, six convicts have been in the condom cell at the Barguna District Jail.

Earlier on Tuesday (October 26), a court sentenced six of the 14 minors charged in the Rifat murder case to 10 years in prison. The court also sentenced four people to five years and one to three years in prison and acquitted the other three.

Judge of the Barguna District Court of Women and Children. Hafizur Rahman announced the verdict. The 10-year-old convicts are- Md. Rashidul Hasan Rishan Faraji (18), Md. Rakibul Hasan Rifat Hawladar (15 years), Maryland. Abu Abdullah Raihan (18), Md. Oliullah Oli (18) said. Naim (18) and Md. Tanvir Hossain (18).

The prisoners are Joy Chandra Sarkar Chandan (18), Nazmul Hasan (14), Rakibul Hasan Niyamt (15) and Md. Syed Maruf Billah Mahibullah (18 years old). Prince Mollah (15) sentenced to three years.

Furthermore, Maruf Mallick (18), Ratul Sikder Joy (18) and Aryan Hossain Shravan were acquitted.
