Banking authorities arrested a man named Ripon (50) and handed him over to the police while stealing money from a bank customer in Abhaynagar, Jessore. The incident took place at the Sonali Bank Nawapara branch in Nawapara Bazar of upazila on Thursday noon.

ASM Shamsuddin Ahmed Shamim, branch manager of Sonali Bank Nawapara, said an official from Messrs. Tanjir Traders from Nawapara Bazar arrived at the bank on Thursday afternoon with a bag to deposit Tk 28 lakh. One person tried to hide the bag of money while leaving the bag on the cash counter for the purpose of depositing money. Tactically, the man cut up the bag and began to take out the money. When the matter came to the attention of Ruhul Amin, the cashier officer, he started yelling that he was a thief. Members of Ansar and the security guards on duty at the door closed the door. The thief was caught thanks to the efforts of bank officials and employees, and five thousand rupees stolen from the bag were recovered from the thief.
