The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) has summoned Deputy Attorney General Jannatul Ferdous Rupa for questioning on charges of helping several defendants, including GK Shamim, to obtain bail.
A notice signed by ACC (Special Investigation and Investigation-2) Deputy Director Mohammad Ibrahim on Wednesday (October 28) asked him to present himself with a copy of his national identity card and passport on the morning of November 4. The director of the ACC (Public Relations), Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya, confirmed the matter.
According to the ACC notice, Deputy Attorney General Jannatul Ferdous Rupar has been charged with various irregularities, corruption, abuse of power and bribery through GK Shamim. Notice has been issued to hear your statement in the interest of a proper investigation.
On February 4-6 of this year, the High Court granted GK Shamim bail in two weapons and drug cases. He was granted bail for six months in the weapons case and one year in the drugs case. The High Court of Judge AKM Asaduzzaman and Judge SM Mujibur Rahman and the High Court of Judge Rezaul Haque and Judge Bishwadev Chakraborty granted him bail in both cases. The bail was a secret. After the bail issue was leaked in the first week of March, when the discussion and criticism began, the bail was suspended and canceled on March 8 for concealment of information.
Deputy Attorney General Jannatul Ferdous Rupar could not be reached for comment.
