Sylhet Bandarbazar police highlight torture. Deputy Assistant Inspector (ASI) arrested in the murder of Raihan Ahmed (34). The court granted a preventive detention of five days to Ashek Elahi. At the same time, the three-day preventive detention ended with the bailiff’s dismissal. The court granted Harun Aur Rashid three more days of preventive detention in the second phase.
Sylhet, Chief Judge of the Additional Judicial Magistrates Court on Thursday afternoon. Ziadur Rahman gave the order. Mahidul Islam, the investigating officer in the case and an inspector with the Police Investigation Bureau (PBI), sent the two policemen to court. After the hearing, the court granted Ashek Elahi a remand for five days and Harun a remand for three days.
When contacted, Sylhet Metropolitan Police Assistant Commissioner (Prosecutor) Amulya Kumar Chowdhury confirmed the information at first glance.
According to PBI, agent Harun Aur Rashid, who was suspended on October 24, was in preventive detention for three days. His preventive detention ended on Thursday. Harun was also presented in court along with the arrested ASI Ashek Elahi on Wednesday night. The investigating officer of the case sent ASI Ashek Elahi for seven days and Harun for five more days in the second phase. After the hearing, the court granted Ashek five days of pretrial detention and Harun three days.
