A case of hitting a naval officer goes to DB

Irfan Selim, his bodyguard Zahidul Mollah, and protocol officer AB Siddique Dipu are in the custody of the Dhanmondi Police Station in the case.

On Wednesday, the court placed Irfan Selim and Zahidul in pretrial detention for three days in a case of beating and threatening to kill a naval officer.

Dhanmondi Area Additional Deputy Police Commissioner Abdullah Kafi said: “The case will be handed over to the detective police tomorrow morning, but not tonight.”

Although the three were said to have been questioned separately, police officer Abdullah Kafi did not say what they said during questioning.

Meanwhile, Chawkbazar OC Moudut Hawlader police station said Irfan and Zahidul would be detained for 14 days each in the Gun and Narcotics Act case brought by the RAB.

Irfan, the son of Haji Selim, a deputy for the Old Dhaka Awami League, is a councilor for District 30 of the Dhaka South City Corporation.

The local government department has already suspended him for going to jail in a mobile court.

Irfan was sentenced to one year in prison for drinking and six months for illegally owning a walkie-talkie. His bodyguard Zahid was sentenced to six months in prison for carrying a walkie-talkie.

The RAB also filed four cases against the two at the Chawkbazar police station at midnight Tuesday.

Irfan has been charged under the Gun Act and some liquor bottles for recovering an illegal pistol and a compressed air rifle.

In addition, there has been a case under the Gun Law for recovering an illegal pistol from Zahid and a drug case for recovering 407 yaba.
