The owner of the tea shop punched the president in the nose

Neshar Uddin, 45, a local tea merchant, beat Abdul Quader, president of Madati Union Parishad in Kaliganj upazila of Lalmonirhat.

The incident took place in an arbitration at the union council on Wednesday afternoon.

Neshar, son of Chakmal Hossain from the union’s Babudanga area, was later arrested by the police in the incident.

Police and locals said that Nesar Uddin had a long-standing land dispute with his brother Yakub Ali. Yakub Ali became the plaintiff in the incident and filed a complaint with Madati Union Parishad. Later, the trade union council chairman Abdul Quader settled the matter in a dispute over the land of tea merchant Neshar Uddin at a cost of Tk 120,000.

On Tuesday, the money was supposed to be delivered to Nesar through the president, but he did not deliver it. Later, during another arbitration on Wednesday, Nesar Uddin struck President Abdul Quader at one point. When the president’s nose exploded and blood came out, he was rescued and admitted to the Upazila Health Complex.

Upon receiving the news, the police and Upazila Nirbahi’s officer, Rabiul Hasan, arrived at the scene and took control of the situation.

He said: “You cannot accept such an attack on the president for a trivial incident. Of course, legal action will be taken after the investigation.

Kaliganj (OC) Police Officer in Charge Arju Md Sajad confirmed the arrest of the attacker Neshar Uddin.
