The management of the land development (rental) tax will go completely digital from July next year, said Land Minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury. “Now we will manage the tax on territorial development both manually and digitally,” he said. However, from next July, ‘No More Manual System’ will be fully digital.
He said this when launching the online land development tax management software pilot program (Phase I) for the construction of digital Bangladesh at the Land Ministry conference room on Wednesday.
The Chairman of the Agrarian Reform Board, Yakub Ali Patwari, presided over the function while the Secretary of the Land Ministry, Makshudur Rahman Patwari, was present.
The Land Minister said: “We are working on the projects step by step.” Now there will be many problems to digitize from the land development tax management manual. After solving everything, we will go into full digital process from July 1. We wanted to keep the software simple. Hopefully that will be the case. From July it will come in good condition. As digital systems grow, so will services. It is important to introduce the digital system not only on the ground but also in other ministries. This process can cause many problems at the field level. That is why they will be trained. Some things are not possible without training. There is no problem in learning, so we will take the initiative to teach them. However, after July 2021, there will be no manual system.
Saifuzzaman Chowdhury said: Digital Bangladesh was once a dream, like a fairy tale. That is the reality today. The whole world is looking at Bangladesh. The parameters are there, everything is positive, including GDP growth. The growth rate of the developed world has slowed. Bangladesh’s growth is much higher there. We were not afraid of Kovid, who worked in his place. We have also worked in the land ministry, we are not sitting at any job. We want to serve, to work.
Regarding corruption in land management, the minister said: “There is a problem of corruption.” It is a service-oriented ministry. That is why public participation is high. However, taking into account these problems, we go digital. Then many problems will be solved. We also receive many complaints. It’s because of the system. That is why we want to develop the system. We believe in work. We are working on how to serve people at home.
